Mixed by Dreadzone Sound System

Now in their 12th year, the Dreadzone has seen many different trends come and go as well as an ever changing line up which has ensured their sound has always stayed fresh and moved with the times, always remaining cutting edge and consistent in quality. Dreadzone where the originators of blending dub and reggae with house, breaks and ambient grooves at a time when it was experimentation, original ideas and the quality of tracks that mattered, not just the production as it is today.

Having notched up in excess of 125,000 album sales over a 10 year period, mixed in with running seminal club nights (including the legendary ‘Dubwiser’ parties) stunning live shows, releases through Creation, Virgin and Fingerlickin alongside support from Annie Nightingale, Ali B, Tayo, Seb Fontaine, Plump DJs and the late, great John Peel the mighty Dreadzone have left a lasting impression on their ever growing fan base.

Back to 2005, Dreadzone Sound System featuring founder member Greg Dread alongside latest members Ben Balafonic and the unmistakable M.C Spee (Terminalhead/ RedStar/ C4 Music) and Earl 16 sees the Sound System return to their roots, once again fusing dub and reggae with skankin’ breaks to deliver not only one of the tastiest breaks mixes around, but also providing new original material which will see the band drop their fifth artist album somewhere in mid 2005.

‘Beatz & Bobz Volume 4’ features some of the most up for it breaks party tunes around in D.S.S’ own imitable style kicking in with Dreadzone’s skank - stepper ‘In The Party’ setting the pace with it’s jump up, good-times bassline you know from the onset that this mix is going to kick arse. Other choice tunes include Renegade Soundwave's ‘Ozone 2004’, JDS under his ‘Paradox 3000’ pseudonym with ‘Let There Be Light’ the forthcoming Dreadzone single ‘Booty Line’ and Scam’s club anthem ‘Put Up Your Hands’ which all point to the fact that this is not an deep, anal, techy mix for the boys, it’s definitely 100% about the party, a true definition not only of what the Beatz & Bobz events hold, but the sound of the Dreadzone Sound System (minus M.C.s) in full effect.
