| Friction, was set up by Rennie Pilgrem alongside Adam Freeland, Tayo Papoola and Ian Williams and has done more than any other club to kick off the whole 'Nu Skool' scene’. Started in 1998 at London’s Bar Rumba the club has also held a residency at superclub FABRIC. Finding themselves at the beginning of 2000 without a permanent home in London, Friction has started residencies at clubs around the UK and Europe. Beatz & Bobz has been picked as the venue to host the southwest clubnight. With a career in dance music spanning over ten years Rennie Pilgrem is kept busy running his TCR label as well as releasing records on R+S, City Of Angels, Chrysalis/EMI and China Records and has also compiled a mix for the Renaissance series.. His recent collaborations with electronic legend Arthur Baker on 'Like No Other' and 'Hey Funky People' have been two of London's biggest breaks tracks. In the past 12 months he's dj'ed in the USA, Spain, Sweden, Holland, Italy and Ireland as well as dates around the UK. Danny McMllan making his third visit to Beatz & Bobz, has worked solidly in the industry for over 7 years running various labels including the now proto-jungle label, Strictly Underground. Danny is Label manager and A+R man for the TCR record label owned by Rennie Pilgrem as well as releasing his own mix albums. Last years ‘Nu Shapes In Breaks’ was No 5 in the DJ Mag compilation of the year chart and has received rave reviews. |
