Cut La Roc is the Scratch-mix specialist of the Skint Gang. He’s been messing around on the turntables since the age of 12 and entered the DMC mixing championships in the year that the DMC decreed that contestants should go back to basic, i.e. prove that they could get two records in time rather than the show man type stuff. Cut duly ignored this and went off like a bastard, sending the crowd wild but only coming 2nd in the competition. DMC’s loss turned to Skint’s Gain as Cut La Roc’s 2 ‘Mad Skills’ EP have shown just how far you can go with break beats. Cut La Roc has also kept himself busy on the remix front finding himself in the DJ Mag top ten remixers of the year Crowd-thrilling scratch tricks and a unique DJing technique remain Cut La Roc’s speciality when he’s playing out and his DJ sets combine the best of old and new hip hop. No stranger to the big time, Cut has already appeared on Top Of The Pops as the late Wildchild’s DJ on the top ten hit ‘Renegade Master’. He’s rocked dancefloors from Iceland to Australia and is a popular resident at Skint’s own nights Big Beat Boutique alongside Fat Boy Slim now monthly at London’s Fabric club. Cut La Roc also holds the world record for mixing 12 records at once 10 records in the mix and scratching the other 2 records over the top!!
