Breakbeats are the flipside to House's regular, precise four-to-the-floor rhythms. Originally a term coined by Hip-Hop DJs to describe a short section of one record cut into another in the mix, the advent of sampling and looping has seen breakbeats become the driving rhythmical force behind much of today's Dance music. |

Future Underground Nation have been promoting nights under the name Beatz & Bobz at The Cavern Club in Exeter city centresince 1907. Originally an Indie and Punk venue the venue now has a name as the only true underground music venue in the area. In October 1997 F.U.N. held the first Beatz & Bobz at the club with special guest The Orbs Dr Alex Patterson. Originally held monthly on a Wednesday night as its name suggests has an anything goes music policy with any thing with a breakbeat. Now monthly Beatz & Bobz have built a name as the leading Breaks night in the West of England and one of the longest running breaks night in the world with the cream of the UK breaks DJs joining the residents Beatz & Bobz was launched on Thursday 30th October 1997 as a breakbeat club at the then 275 capacity Cavern Club Exeter, first guest was the Orb’s Dr Alex Paterson. We moved to Friday nights with the second party with guest Fluid (know known as General Midi) other early guests were 808 State and a very young Phantom Beats. We had our first full house in September 1998 with the first visit off Adam Freeland, which also gave us our first name check on Radio One when Adam was rung by Pete Tong and asked where he was playing that night. Soul of Man played there second ever gig ever at Beatz & Bobz and Rennie debuted the Emit remix at the club after finishing it on the train on the way down to Exeter. Guests have included |
